Cable theft leaves parts of Boksburg without power

Cable theft continues to be a major challenge across the city, often resulting in prolonged outages, costly repairs and disruptions to essential services.

Large parts of Boksburg are without electricity following yet another incident of cable theft this morning (December 11), the City of Ekurhuleni confirmed.

According to the metro, affected areas include Reiger Park, Ramaphosa, Boksburg South and the Boksburg CBD.
Municipal technicians were dispatched shortly after the outage was reported and are currently working to restore supply.
The city has given an estimated restoration time of 19:00 tonight, depending on repair progress and the extent of the damage caused by the theft.
