Ekurhuleni Mayor pays tribute to former ERWAT chairperson Dr. Natalie Skeepers

: The City of Ekurhuleni mourns the passing of Dr. Natalie Skeepers, former Chairperson of ERWAT, who was celebrated for her leadership, governance expertise, and unwavering commitment to public service and environmental stewardship.

The City of Ekurhuleni mayor, Doctor Xhakaza, has expressed profound sadness following the passing of Dr. Natalie Skeepers, former chairperson of the Board of the Ekurhuleni Water Care Company (ERWAT).

According to the city, Skeepers served the city and its municipal entity with distinction, providing principled leadership, sound governance oversight, and strategic guidance.

“Her contributions were instrumental in strengthening ERWAT as a critical institution within the city’s water and sanitation sector.

“A respected professional with extensive experience in water, environmental, and governance matters. She was widely recognised for her commitment to public service, institutional accountability, and environmental stewardship.”

Dlamini said she played a pivotal role in enhancing oversight structures and advancing ERWAT’s efforts toward compliance, service excellence, and sustainable environmental practices.

“On behalf of the City of Ekurhuleni, its council, administration, and residents, mayor Xhakaza extended heartfelt condolences to Dr. Skeepers’ family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of working with her.”

Xhakaza said, her life, her service, and her lasting contributions to responsible governance and public-sector leadership will remain an enduring inspiration to all committed to ethical leadership and service to communities

“May her soul rest in eternal peace,” said Xhakaza.
