Naik earns SA indoor cricket call-up

He plays for Actonville Spurs.

Actonville’s rising cricket star Christian Naik has been rewarded for an outstanding season after being selected to represent the South African U17 Indoor Cricket Team at the Indoor Cricket World Series in Pretoria this September.

The 17-year-old Grade 11 learner at Jeppe High School for Boys will take on some of the world’s best young players when South Africa hosts Australia, India, Sri Lanka, the United Arab Emirates, New Zealand and England at the Atterbury Arena.

Naik earned his place in the national squad through a string of consistent performances and his ability to influence matches with both bat and ball. He is expected to play an important role as the defending champions look to retain the World Series title on home soil.

The talented all-rounder has also received a second national honour after being selected for the South African U18 Indoor Cricket Team for the Inland Tour later this year, capping a memorable year in his cricketing journey.

Naik represents Actonville Spurs Cricket Club and Wits University in outdoor cricket while also starring for Jeppe High School’s first team.

His achievements are also a landmark moment for Sports for Hope and The Elevation HPA, where he has developed his cricket and leadership skills. He becomes the first international sportsman to emerge from the two development programmes.
