Phillips Foundation brings hope to Reiger Park on Mandela Day
The foundation plans to continue hosting programmes that restore hope, empower young people, and strengthen families across the township.
Cleo Phillips, founder of the newly established NPO the Phillips Foundation, joined thousands of South Africans in dedicating 67 Minutes on Mandela Day by giving back to her community.
The Reiger Park resident’s initiative brought children and families together for a day of food, refreshments, activities, laughter, and connection, creating a safe and positive space where hope and unity could flourish.
“Growing up in Reiger Park, I have seen both the challenges and the strength of our community. With gang violence affecting so many families, I wanted to create a day where children could simply be children, smile, and feel loved,” said Phillips

According to her, the event was warmly received by residents, many of whom appreciated the opportunity to gather in a safe and uplifting environment.
For Cleo and her family, the initiative was the beginning of a dream to make a lasting difference in the lives of others.
The Phillips Foundation plans to continue hosting programmes that restore hope, empower young people, and strengthen families across Reiger Park.
“This is only the beginning,” said Cleo. “My dream is to keep giving back, inspiring others, and helping build a brighter future for our community.”
