Local driver finishes third

The Rock Raceway hosted the last event of the 2013 Oval Track and Formula N season on Saturday, October 26.

The day saw Tiaan Greyvenstein from Boksburg finish third in the Formula 2 Midgets race, to improve on his previous finishing position of fourth in his first ever national event appearance a fortnight ago.

The 14-year-old hobbled off the track after the race, which was won by Andries Draper with younger brother William Draper finishing as the runner-up.

Greyvenstein sustained a sprained ankle in a cycling accident during the build-up week to the race.

Elsewhere, newcomer to the Ninja Class, Megan Kotze from Boksburg attracted a lot of attention from fans as she “hotfooted” her No 118 M&M’s Ninja kart around the 400 M oval. Kotze will be be hoping to make further progress to her young racing career come next season.

The new Oval Track and Formula N season begins on December 14.
