Boxer Cayden Truter is ready for any fight
Cayden turned professional in May following a hugely successful amateur journey which saw him go unbeaten in 22 fights coupled with a South African amateur championship stint.
2019 has been a great year for young Cayden Truter and his boxing career, which has grown from strength to strength since he first stepped in the squared circle.
It just recently culminated with a TKO-win in the second round over Themba Hadebe in Turffontein, a victory which upgraded his professional record to 3-0; 2. The junior lightweight bout was scheduled for four rounds.
Quizzed on the performance, the Hoërskool Dr EG Jansen pugilist said: “Well, the game plan was to jab and move in the first round, let him throw his bombs and get tired, then in the second round apply more pressure and I caught him with an uppercut and a left hook before putting more pressure on him, catching him with every shot. That is when the referee thought he had seen enough.”
It wasn’t a title fight nor was it a top contender’s bout, but the win did ensure that the 18-year-old will fight at the mecca of South African boxing, Emperors Palace, next February for a second time – with his debut at the Palace arriving in August where he brushed aside Lopez Maluleka via unanimous decision.
The up-and-coming pugilist, who, along with his elder brother Tristan, are making all the right moves in the boxing fraternity.
He also became a Golden Gloves Promotions boxer.
Meanwhile, Tristan will be involved in a top four junior middleweight tournament kicking off with the two semi-finals at the Palace on November 30.
The finale will be at the same venue in March next year.
