United fall to Wits

A busy season lies ahead for the Reiger Park outfit who will be competing in the TWD Super Cup, the SARU Gold Cup and the Valke Peregrine League which will be less taxing compared to the two former competitions.

Wits University edged East Rand United 21-15 in a pre-season match in Johannesburg over the weekend of February 29.

Prolific kicker Cameron Rooi was responsible for all but five of United’s points with a single try which he converted himself and a penalty. Captain on the day and loose forward Peter Mnguni scored United’s second try.

According to a statement from United, the club has yet to make a final decision on an incumbent skipper for the imminent new season.

United’s second team was also in action in a match that preceded the seniors, but they too were undone with 21 points as the hosts took the spoils 21-10.
