With your help, Jonathan can walk again
Jonathan remains positive that he will one day put these medical setbacks behind him
Witkoppie Ridge entrepreneur Jonathan Wilken needs to undergo extensive rehabilitation to train his legs to walk again.
He, however, needs the Boksburg public to help him make it happen.
As a potential contributor to Wilken’s cause, residents will be encouraged to know that their hard-earned donation will not go to waste when used towards helping this strong person regain his life.
His partner, Courtney Widdop, has launched a crowdfunding appeal Facebook page, called Help Support Jonathan Wilken, for those interested in making a difference.
A type one diabetic since the age of six, the now 28-year-old Wilken experienced kidney failure in 2016 and lost his car salesman job as a result of the need to undergo dialysis.
This required a kidney and pancreas transplant two years later, which was meant to cure his kidney and diabetes problems.
However, matters went from bad to worse for him as it was discovered that the new pancreas was leaking toxins which caused an aneurysm.
The new pancreas had to be immediately removed which was a risky procedure. The risks were realised when the removal caused an infection of his iliac artery, putting Wilken’s life in serious danger.
The lockdown was the least of Wilken’s problems as his health continued to take a turn for the worst.
Following a successful operation to bypass his pancreatic complications, Wilken lost feeling in his legs after it was discovered that the bypass had clotted, preventing blood flow to his legs and new kidney.
He remains positive that he will one day put these medical setbacks behind him.
Despite all this, Wilken still managed to recently establish his own delivery business.
