Investigations continue in MMA star’s rape case

According to Boksburg North SAPS spokesperson Const Justice Ramaube, the rape charge laid against former MMA fighter Patrick Luindula is still on the table.

Last time the Advertiser reported on this case early this year, it was pending on DNA results which Ramaube said would then determine the direction of the case.

The lockdown caused a backlog involving multiple cases including Luindula’s, and as a result, the situation remains the same: the DNA results are still waited upon to determine the following steps.

The case is handled by the SAPS’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Springs.

“Upon speaking to the investigating officer, she said there were no changes concerning the case at all though she also confirmed that the victim calls her for updates on a weekly basis,” explained Ramaube.

The incident is alleged to have happened on November 29, 2019 at Club La Boom after a boxing event in which Luindula was the master of ceremony.

The victim, who claims Luindula sexually assaulted her, opened a case at the Primrose Police Station in Germiston before the matter got transferred to the Boksburg North Police Station.

Luindula, who used to go by the nickname ‘God of War’, has since maintained his innocence, saying while he did have sex with a woman, it was consensual.

The Advertiser understands that he’s still out on bail.
