Dave’s Foundation to host six-a-side tournament

Willas United owner David Johnson will host a friendly tournament dubbed the Willas United Six-a-Side Cup, which will be played at fields on the corner of De Waal and Aucamp streets in Windmill Park on November 28.

Proceedings will start at 9am and run until late.

The tournament is part of Johnson’s foundation initiative, Dave’s Foundation, which focuses on youth development to keep the youth away from crime and drug abuse.

The tournament will also be held in honour of Jarmaine “Dr Jay” Muller, a popular DJ in Willas United circles who used to sponsor the team too.
Muller died earlier this year.

The maximum number of teams which can enter the open age tournament is 16 and the registration fee for each team is R450.
Team registration deadline is November 24.

The winning prize is listed at R3 200, which will come with a trophy and medals. The runners-up will bag R1 200 along with their silver medals.

Food and beverages will be sold at the venue and tournament organisers have made it clear that no mask, no entry.
