Local javelin thrower Armant van der Linden continued to fine-tune his form ahead of the South African Championships with another impressive outing in Pretoria on March 30.
The Boksburg South athlete competed in the men’s open division in the Gauteng North Championships and continued to impress with the 800g javelin at the LC de Villiers sports grounds.
Fresh from coming in the meeting at the back of a new personal best mark of 68.11m recently set at the Boksburg City Stadium, the thrower came close to emulating his best effort with a 67m attempt, finishing in an overall sixth position in the country’s capital.
“I’ve been consistently throwing around the 70m mark in training so I feel very good,” said a pleased van der Linden ahead of the big stage.
The SA Champs took place this past weekend (April 10-11). The Advertiser will continue to follow up with the story.
