Boksburg girls to represent SA in IDO

Young dancers from Boksburg represent South Africa at IDO

Two dancers from Sunward Park are representing South Africa at the International Dance Organisation (IDO) Disco World Championships in the Czech Republic from June 22 to 25.

According to a letter issued to the dancers, Georga Castis-Jara (13) and her sister Alexxa (11), from the president of the SA Dance Teachers Association, Elize Cogle, the girls were selected based on their performance in a series of competitions last year.

Their mother, Christina, said the two are training hard for the overseas competition.

“They train almost every day at their school, Dance Illusions, in Bedfordview,” she explained.

Christina has set up a BackaBuddy fundraiser to help cover their travel costs, visas, accommodation, training and costumes.

She has also started selling homemade biscuits, meals and treats with the help of her other daughter, Denise, to raise funds for the trip.

Besides being a disco duo, Georga and Alexxa also compete individually and have both won countless medals and trophies.

They competed in 35 competitions, of which they each won first place seven times.

They entered the ‘Get on Board’ competition in November last year and won, which saw them perform on the MSC cruise liner on March 20, along with their brother, Diego, who was scouted for modelling.

The girls said that they are ready to take on the challenge.

“We live by a Disney motto: All our dreams can come true if we have the courage to pursue them,” they said.

If anyone wants to help the girls with their trip, contact their mother Christina Castis-Jara at 083 452 8990.

You can also order homemade biscuits, meals and treats on the same number or also donate on their BackaBuddy account https://www.backabuddy.co.za/georga-castis-jara-5512516992717389434.
