Fun and good games for Nomad ladies at KZN nationals
The East Rand Nomad team played well in the Nationals.
Anita Sloane, Sonja Barnard and Mary Harwood of Boksburg Bowling Club took part in the Nomad Bowls South Africa Ladies National at the Scottburgh Bowling Club in KZN from July 2 to 6.
Harwood finished third in the East Rand Nomad Bowls team, but finished 11th in the overall standings, with Barnard, a virgin player, finishing in fourth for the East Rand team and 24th overall.
Barnard also won Most Stylish Outfit at the event.

Sloane finished seventh for the East Rand Nomad team and 42nd overall.
Barnard said she had fun at the nationals.
“As virgin players, we had to design outfits out of black bags and model these. It was exciting to win best outfit and I thank my teammate Ulrika Swanepoel for helping me to design the outfit,” said Barnard.
She added that East Rand Nomad Bowls team does a lot for charity.
“We raise funds for various charity organisations on the East Rand through our competitions. These include Boksburg SPCA, Hospice East Rand and Boksburg Child Welfare.
“During this most recent competition, we raised R23 000. The money will be divided among various charities,” Barnard concluded.
