Samba Boys FC promoted to SAB Regional League season 23/24
The boys had two draws and lost one game
Samba Boys FC was promoted to the men’s regional league for the next season after competing in the SAFA Ekurhuleni play-offs that were held in Delville at Germiston City sports ground on August 6.
The team played three games to advance to the knockout stages. They were grouped with Kathorus Juventus, Magic Ten and United FC. They drew 3-3 with Kathorus and also drew 1-1 with Magic Ten and beat United FC 7-1.

“We then qualified for the last eight where we played against BB Spartans. We won on penalties to progress to the semi-finals where we automatically qualified for the promotion,” said coach and co-owner of Samba Boys, Sydney Chipitura.
He said in the semi-finals they played against TSG, a club from Brakpan and won.
They were beaten in the finals 2-0 by Kathorus Juventus.

“The games were very tough,” said Chipitura.
The co-owner said that they are very happy with the promotion and now they are focusing to compete in the SAB league. He said that this is their first time being promoted to play for the league in the club’s 10 years of existence.

Chipitura said it was a team effort and also a community project.
“We support we got from Delville in Germiston was phenomenal from the first to their last game. We will now focus on discipline, fitness and be more organised and structured.”
