Local hockey player to represent SA
His future plans include giving back to hockey, coaching kids and getting involved in the development plan.
Mark Repsold from Beyers Park has been selected to represent South Africa in the World Masters Hockey World Cup in Cape Town in October.
The 41-year-old said he is overjoyed about being included in the team.
“Missing out on the last World Cup as a non-travelling reserve makes this year so much more special.
“Everyone that plays or has played the sport will have that hope of playing for your country one day, singing the national anthem,” said Mark, the manager of Ocean Basket Sunward Park.
Mark said his preparation for the World Cup is going well.
“A few injuries here and there caused some panic, but all is well now. My wife and family have been supportive of my journey,” he said.
His plans include giving back to hockey, coaching children and getting involved in the development plan.
“My first goal is to bring back a medal from the World Cup.”
Mark’s wife, Megan, said he has always been a great supporter of the Sunward Park/ Boksburg community.
“He has given back to so many people in so many ways and is well known for his heart of gold,” she said.
Mark needs financial support to make his World Cup dream a reality. Anyone who can assist Repsold may contact him on 082 782 9292.
