Little aerialist reaches new heights

Kaitlyn's family is proud of her achievement.

Kaitlyn Lynette Weyers (10) from Impala Park is proof that dynamite comes in small packages.

The Laerskool Northmead learner recently competed in the South African Championship of Performing Arts (SACOPA) in Rustenburg, in the variety acts category for sport of aerial arts.

She placed in both apparatus skills, (gold medal) and hoop (bronze medal) on the podium, receiving her regional colours and making Team South Africa 2025.

Kaitlyn’s parents, Chaude and Jaco, said they are extremely proud of their daughter’s achievement.

“With these amazing placings, she will be invited to compete overseas for her Protea colours in aerial arts.

“The fact that they achieved this at such a young age is fantastic. I would like to thank LB Videography, Twisted Cirque and the coaches, SACOPA and Team Optics,” said Chaude.

Barry Weyers, Kaitlyn’s grandfather, said with perseverance and humbleness she can achieve great things.
