Renewed appeal for help to save club from its looming demise

Come try Squash or Racquetball, get fit, have fun and meet great people.

With squash slowly dying out in Ekurhuleni, the Boksburg Squash Club has renewed its appeal for more potential members to join the club and benefit from participating in its sports and social activities.

While this club is among the few local sport facilities that have so far proved more resilient, it was not spared from the global downturn, with dwindling numbers of people participating in the sport after the racquet-sport cousins, including padel, emerged and drew members away.

Ian Pearson, a long-time member of the almost 50-year-old club, admitted that failure to garner additional members would mean that the future of the club hangs in the balance.
He therefore calls on all potential players to join the fun at the Boksburg Squash Club.
“Whether you’re a seasoned player, a social player, or just curious to try a new sport, Boksburg Squash Club welcomes you.”

Why Boksburg Squash Club?
Established 47 years ago, this club with a rich history and vibrant community boasts top-notch facilities – six squash courts, modern change rooms with showers and a steam room, a spacious recreational area with braai facilities, a pool table and two dart boards.
“Our home-brewed braai relish and pap are legendary on Business League nights.”
Why try racquetball?
Racquetball is gaining popularity as an alternative to squash, played on the same court but with a shorter racquet and bigger ball. It’s easier to pick up but still offers an intense workout. The club has racquets for hire, so come and give it a go.
