Caxton Local Media a proud sponsor of BNAC Marathon

“We are committed to connecting with the communities we serve."

The Benoni Northerns Athletic Club (BNAC) Marathon runners, spectators and entire community are in for a treat as the Benoni City Times and Caxton Local Media have partnered with the BNAC as one of the sponsors of this year’s race on April 13.

According to Caxton East Rand GM, Karen Watts, this partnership underscores the BCT’s and Caxton Local Media’s commitment to playing a leading and key role in supporting community initiatives.

“We are committed to connecting with the communities we serve. Benoni is a very sports-orientated city and it makes sense to get behind one of the most successful sporting clubs in Benoni as evidence of our commitment,” said Watts.

Watts added that she and Caxton East staffers can’t wait to inspire the participants to aim for their PBs on race day, while also encouraging first timers and those looking to qualify for the Comrades Marathon to achieve their goals.

The race organiser and BNAC secretary Kerry Webb said this sponsorship came at the right time when most companies were redirecting their support elsewhere.

“Time and again, we are reminded that the East Rand community is something truly special. The spirit of support and community we see here is second to none. So, it’s no surprise that our new race sponsors, BCT, Caxton Local

Media and Meat World, are all proudly local businesses that believe in backing local businesses and community events,” she said.

She added that it was exciting and reassuring to have the backing of sponsors “that recognise the significance of grassroots athletics”.

“The BNAC Marathon is a true community event. Our club members work tirelessly to make it happen. Local businesses and volunteers come together to man water stations and the people of Benoni line the streets to cheer on the runners.

“With BCT, Caxton Local Media and Meat World in our corner now, we are confident that our race will continue to grow as a highlight on the local sporting calendar. Thank you for your incredible support,” Webb said.

The event includes the 42.2km, 21.1km, 10km and 5km fun run, as well as the 48km ultra-marathon.

The event starts at 06:00 at the Benoni Northerns Sports Club in Northmead.
