Brendon Reddy recorded a century to power the Actonville Spurs Veterans to a commanding 46-run victory in their season-opening Eastern Storm Veterans League match against the Benoni Northerns Sabres on June 29.
Reddy led the way with a blistering 101 from just 65 balls, striking seven fours and seven maximums, to help Spurs recover from the early wickets of Rashad Mia and Pravesh Durman.

He shared a 94-run stand with Muhammed Teladia (25 off 48, including two boundaries) for the fifth wicket as Spurs posted 237/6 in their 30 overs.
Bowling first, the Sabres started brilliantly with Dirk Bloem trapping Mia and Durman with the third and fifth balls of the second over, leaving their opponents in trouble on 6/2.
However, Mohsin Patel and Himmat Parbhoo wrestled back some control with a 43-run third-wicket partnership before Parbhoo was spectacularly caught behind by keeper Gavin Ferreira off the bowling of Marius Oosthuizen.
Patel’s resistance ended in the 13th over, bowled by JJ Coetzee after contributing 37 off 33. But Reddy and Teladia steadied the innings with their match-winning stand.

In response, Mia’s brilliant spell at the back end of the innings saw Spurs bowl out their hosts for 191.
Mia took four wickets, with Teladia contributing two, while Chirag Parbhoo, Riaz Ghanchi, Mohsin Patel and Reddy each chipped in with a wicket.

Teladia started the rout by removing Nicolaos Moregamos and Craig Turton, reducing the Sabres to 21/2 early on.
Ferreira and Andre Steyn mounted a brief fightback, adding 52 for the third wicket, but Teladia broke that stand with the dismissal of Ferreira in the 11th over.
Ghanchi and Mia followed with the wickets of Eddie Taute and Steyn, while Patel dismissed Oosthuizen in the 25th over, leaving the Sabres needing 61 in the final six overs.
Mia then cleaned up the tail, removing Bruce Allen, Jan Grobbelaar and Bloem, before Reddy sealed the win with the dismissal of Calvin Clark.
