Scholarship success for 12 year-old cricket sensation
The scholarship awarded to Grayor is particularly notable as it is typically reserved for learners entering Grade Eight but was granted while he was still in Grade Six.

Cricket prodigy Grayor Julius (12) has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a scholarship to study at Christian Brother College (CBC) due to his exceptional sportsmanship and talent in cricket.
Grayor’s journey with cricket began when he first picked up a bat at just two years old, and his passion for the sport has only grown stronger over time.
Despite facing challenges when his previous school, Freeway Park Primary, discontinued its cricket programme, Grayor’s determination led him to find new avenues for pursuing his love for the game.
His father, Kurtley, noted that this opportunity arose because the Boksburg Primary Schools cricket team was already full.
“The scholarship awarded to Grayor is particularly notable as it is typically reserved for learners entering Grade Eight but was granted while he was still in Grade Six.
“This early recognition highlights not only his athletic achievements but also his academic excellence and commitment to sportsmanship.
“This is proof to how hard work and dedication can open doors even before they are expected.”

According to his Julius, he started this year at the college and continues to develop as a young cricketer under the guidance of experienced coaches and mentors.
“The college’s strong focus on both academics and extracurricular activities provides him with an ideal environment to balance schoolwork with his passion for cricket.
“CBC’s emphasis on teaching combined with its involvement in Christianity has created a supportive community where Grayor feels valued both as an athlete and as an individual.”
Julius added that he is proud of Grayor for achieving the scholarship.
“We will make sure that he does not only strive in cricket but also in academics.”
Grayor participated in the prestigious Gateng Cup U11 boys’ tournament hosted by Central Gauteng Lions last year. It was a moment he described as being happy but nervous.
Reflecting on this experience, he said: “I love cricket because I am proud of myself when I do my best.
“Competing against the best fuels determination. Our aim was at least being part of the top three.”
Grayor said his father played a significant role in nurturing this love for cricket through their shared experiences on the field.
“Cricket is how we bonded.”
