New colours and trim confirmed for BMW 3 Series, 8 Series, X2, X3, X4, X5 and X7

With a series of revisions having been introduced towards the end of January this year, BMW has revealed more changes set to come into force from July on the 3 Series, 8 Series, X2, X3, X4, X5 and the incoming X7.

3 Series

Following its long awaited debut in March, the updates to the 3 Series, externally, will consist out of a new selection of BMW Individual colours namely Brilliant White Metallic, Oxide Grey Metallic, Frozen Dark Grey Metallic and Citrine Black Metallic, while on the inside, the Individual-line leather wrapped steering wheel with a choice of three trim strip designs and Merino leather upholstery has been added to the options list.

As part of the Individual Composition line, the aforementioned Merino upholstery is joined by 19-inch light-alloy wheels, sport seats, the Individual steering wheel and an anthracite finished headliner. New to the range is the M Sport Individual pack that builds on the regular M Sport, but adds the mentioned 19-inch alloys as well as the features of the Individual Composition pack.

The biggest inclusion however is on the model front where the 320i joins the existing line-up of the 320d and 330i as the new entry-level derivative. Packing the same 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine as the latter, the unit in the 320i has been re-tuned to produce 135 kW and 300 N.m of torque instead of 140 kW and 400 N.m, while at the sharp-end, the 330d, for now, serves as the new flagship with its 3.0-litre turbodiesel straight-six churning out 195 kW and 580 N.m.

Arriving in September, the range will be capped-off with the M340i xDrive whose 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six petrol produces 275 kW and 500 N.m of torque, allowing for a top speed of 250 km/h and 0-100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Like the rest of the line-up, the M340i’s motor is paired to an eight-speed Steptronic gearbox, although in this case, with the otherwise optional sports-tuned ration setup along with xDrive all-wheel-drive, M Sport exhaust and M Sport differential.

8 Series

Despite having arrived on local shores just over a month ago, BMW’s flagship GT has also been revised, though only with a new selection of exterior and interior fittings, the former being made of a new Frozen Bluestone Metallic hue for the coupe from the Individual paint catalogue, while for the cabriolet, new colours include Brilliant White Metallic, Almandine Brown Metallic, Frozen Brilliant White Metallic, Frozen Arctic Grey Metallic, Frozen Dark Brown Metallic, Frozen Cashmere Silver, Frozen Dark Silver, Pure Metal Silver, Aventurine Red Metallic and Tanzanite Blue Metallic.

Inside, the M Sport seats with 3D quilted central inserts and stitching have been added to the options list, in addition to the BMW Motorsport colours on the seatbelts, a choice of eight leather upholstery hues and two new wood veneers from the Individual range; high-gloss effect Black Ash Silver and Carbon Fibre.

X2

Supplemented by the xDrive35i earlier this year, the exterior add-ons to the X2 consists of Adaptive LED headlights with cornering function, LED fog lights and from the options list, the M Sport braking system and 18 or 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the 8.8-inch iDrive infotainment display with navigation replaces the previous 6.5-inch unit, though with the optional Navigation Plus system specified, the display increases to 10.25-inches. Two new upholstery additions rounds the changes off.

X3 and X4

Like the majority of mentioned updates, the X3 and X4 ranges will also be different from July though only with new interior fittings such as bucket-style M Sport seats and trim pieces.

X5

Reserved for the options list from August, the X5’s list of new features will consist of 22-inch twin-spoke Manhattan Metallic alloy wheels, BMW Individual Alcantara headliner in either Ivory White or Anthracite and the high-gloss Shadow Line exterior trim.

On the power front, the all-diesel choice of engines will be joined by a petrol in the form of the xDrive 45e that replaces the xDrive 40e. Unlike its predecessor though, the 2.0-litre engine has been dropped for a 3.0-litre albeit paired to an electric motor for a total system output of 290 kW and 600 N.m. According to BMW, the setup will allow the 45e to complete the 0-100 km/h dash in 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 235 km/h. The all electric range is a claimed 80 km/h.

X7

Set to go on sale next week, the X7’s range of new additions will only become available in August and include the Merino leather upholstery in three colours, an Ivory White or Anthracite headliner, the high-gloss Shadow Line exterior trim and three new exterior hues; Manhattan Metallic, Ametrine Metallic and Tanzanite Blue Metallic, the latter pair from the Individual range.
