The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past weekend:

Friday – A white Ford Ranger was stolen from Craigholm Street in Dalview.

• Solar energy equipment, including an inverter and batteries, was stolen during a burglary at a business along Lukas Steyn Street in Withok Estates.
• A Station Road home was broken into, and meat valued at R300 and a laptop were stolen.
• An armed robbery case is under investigation after a Minnebron resident was robbed of cash by an acquaintance who threatened him with a firearm.

The incident took place at an address along Witpoortjie Road in Rand Collieries. The victim left his home at around 17:30 and encountered an old friend in a store.

The two then went to the friend’s house. During the evening, the friend repeatedly stood up and went outside, as if he was waiting for someone. He later returned holding a gun and pointed it at the victim.

The victim initially did not take the threat seriously until the man cocked the firearm and demanded money from him.

The victim stood up, after which the man searched his pocket and took R420. The man then went into one of the rooms, giving the victim an opportunity to escape.

Saturday – A grass cutter, step ladder, extension cord, and copper pipes and taps were stolen during a burglary at a residence along Chestnut Street in Dalpark.

Sunday – Tools and a bar fridge were stolen during a break-in at a guard room at a business along Ergo Road in Witpoort Estates.

• A cyclist was robbed of his cellphone and personal belongings along Prince George Avenue near the Brakpan Cemetery by the occupants of a white Toyota Avanza.

The victim was riding his bicycle when, at around 05:30, the vehicle pulled up alongside him. The driver asked the victim to stop, claiming he needed directions.

After the victim stopped, two men got out of the vehicle, both armed with guns. They pointed the weapons at the victim and demanded his cellphone, which was taken from his trouser pocket.

The gunmen then asked for cash, and the victim informed them he had money inside his backpack.
One of the robbers took the bag from the victim.

The bag contained R58 in cash, a reflector jacket, cap, T-shirt, router, pocket book, lunch box and bicycle pump.
