Between August 31 and September 3, Benoni Flying Squad members arrested 10 suspects, and recovered drugs, a motorcycle and a vehicle.

Among the arrests, four were made in Brakpan after members received a radio lookout for a black Volkswagen Polo used in an armed robbery, locating the vehicle at the corner of Kirkland and Acton streets in Dalview.

A search of the vehicle and its occupants led to the arrest of four suspects aged between 16 and 23. Members recovered a toy firearm, two knives and an iPhone valued at R7 000, allegedly taken during the robbery.

Five suspects, aged between 21 and 28, were arrested for drug-related offences in Kempton Park, Etwatwa Extension 30 and Putfontein.

Crystal methamphetamine was recovered in these separate incidents. A 35-year-old suspect driving a white Toyota Vitz displaying false registration plates was arrested in Kempton Park.

In further policing, a stolen stripped motorcycle reported on an Alexandra case was recovered in an open field at the Lindelani informal settlement on the outskirts of Benoni.

An abandoned hijacked white Audi A4, reported on a Katlehong case, was also recovered alongside a tracking company at the taxi rank on 1st Avenue in Springs. Police investigations continue in all cases.

The suspects have appeared and will appear in local magistrate’s courts facing charges of possession of drugs, fraud, defeating the ends of justice, possession of suspected stolen goods, and possession of a dangerous weapon.
