Many ratepayers use online service

More than 100 000 subscribing ratepayers of the Ekurhuleni Metro now receive their municipal statements on time every month and are able to pay immediately, without the risk of third party payment delays.

The e-Siyakhokha electronic platform enables ratepayers access to their statements, payments and account history at the touch of a button.

“The platform was launched in 2011 and has proven to be a huge success with ratepayers enjoying the simplicity and convenience of receiving and viewing their bills via the internet.,” said municipal spokesperson, Sam Modiba.

“Each month registered users receive an email or SMS advising them that their new statement is available,” added Modiba.

Users log onto a secure www.e-siyakhokha.co.za website with their username and password.

They are then able to view their statement and easily pay their bill. The system provides confirmation of payment, matches the payment to the statement and retains this in history for future access or query.

According to Modiba, this removes the challenges of reconciling manual payments.

The system is also linked directly to new services from Standard Bank and Nedbank. The ratepayers who bank with these institutions are also able to make payments directly using internet banking.

The ratepayers simply add “Ekurhuleni” as a bill on the internet banking sites. This ensures correct referencing and allocation of the payment while the eSiyakhokha system is immediately updated.

“We are again calling on all other ratepayers to make use of this innovative system and register for the service on www.e-siyakhokha.co.za,”urged Modiba.
