Brakpan police have made an urgent appeal to members of the public for information, following the fatal shooting of a 57-year-old man in Dalpark Extension 11, last month.

Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander, told the Herald that police were investigating cases of murder and house robbery, after the man was shot and killed on September 20.

The incident took place along Elizabeth Eybers Street, at about 9pm.

“The man and a female friend were packing the car to go on holiday, when three young males confronted them,” said Joubert.

“One of the males was armed with a pistol and shot the man, fatally wounding him.

“They fled the scene with two purses, two cellphones and a DVD player.”

Information can be reported to the investigating officer, Det Sgt Duppie du Plessis, on 011 741 4800 (use the case number 482/9/2013 as a reference).
