Schoolboys rob shop at gunpoint

Two teenage boys have been arrested by Brakpan police for business robbery.

The 19-year-olds, both of whom are Grade 11 learners at a local high school, allegedly walked into a shop along Goods Road at about 11.50am on Wednesday, last week, and pointed guns at a female cashier.

The pair were wearing their school uniforms and had their school bags with them.

They demanded cash from the woman and fled with R500 and a cellphone.

The law caught up with them a few days later and they were arrested by police on Saturday, last week — one at an address in Brakpan and the other at an address in Springs.

Police also recovered a pellet gun they believe was used in the robbery.

According to police, the “toy” looks very much like a 9mm pistol.

The teenagers are expected to appear in court soon.
