A man was robbed of his wallet and cellphone by three men travelling in a white bakkie.
The man and a friend were walking along Athlone Avenue, in Dalview, just after midnight, when a bakkie pulled up alongside them.
The driver asked the pair if they had R5 to spare, as he was low on petrol.
Two occupants of the bakkie, one of whom was armed with a gun, suddenly jumped out and forced the men onto the ground.
They searched them, and fled with a wallet, containing R1 400 and a cellphone.
A brown Volkswagen Golf was stolen from Boundary Road.
A man was robbed of R9 200 by four men, at an ATM in Dalpark, at 6.40pm.
The man was about to deposit the money, when he was surrounded by the men and held up with an unknown sharp object.
They demanded the cash and searched him, taking the money and his cellphone.
Saturday
A 33-year-old man was arrested for burglary after he was found on the premises of a school in Dalview.
A security company, reacting to the school’s alarm, interrupted the man and his accomplice just after midnight.
The other suspect managed to flee the scene.
It is not known whether anything was stolen, but two windows were broken and the door of a room had been forced open.
A male motorist was robbed of his cellphone along High Street at about 8.50pm.
The motorist had halted at a stop street when two men walked in front of his car.
One the men remained in front of the vehicle, while the other opened the car’s passenger door and asked the motorist for matches.
When he was told the driver didn’t have any, the man became aggressive and smashed the car’s rear windscreen.
As the motorist turned off the car’s ignition and climbed out to confront the men, one of them grabbed his cellphone.
Both fled the scene.
Sunday
A television set and computers were stolen from a home in Germains Avenue.
A red Suzuki motorbike, used as a delivery vehicle for a local fast food outlet, was stolen from Prince George Avenue.
A car battery and a carton of cigarettes were stolen from a vehicle parked at an address along Pitt Street, in Brenthurst.
The driver of a silver Volkswagen Polo was hijacked by two men in Orpen Avenue, Leachville, at about 8.30pm.
The driver had just parked his car at an address along this street when a man, armed with a gun, knocked on his window.
Another man appeared at the passenger side window and the pair ordered the driver out of the car.
They then climbed in and drove away.
