Weekend crime round-up

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend (January 17, 18 and 19):

Friday

A male employee at a cellphone shop in Voortrekker Road was tied up and robbed by two men.

The robbers, one of whom was armed with a gun, entered the shop at about 10am and forced the employee into a back room.

They tied his hands and legs before fleeing with eight cellphones and R500.

A television set, games console and jewellery were stolen from an address along Civin Street, Sonneveld.

Two cars were broken into.

A GPS was stolen from a car parked along Voortrekker Road, and a wristwatch and cash were stolen from a vehicle parked along Kingsway Avenue.

A woman was robbed of her cellphone in the CBD, by a pickpocket.

The woman was walking along Voortrekker Road at 2.45pm, when a man bumped into her and grabbed her shirt.

As he walked away, the woman searched her belongings and discovered her cellphone was gone.

Saturday

A white Big Boy Scooter was stolen from Frere Street, in Anzac, and a white Volkswagen Jetta was stolen from the Mall@Carnival.

Burglars stole a television set and other household items from a home in Rangeview Road, Dalpark.

Sunday

Burglars stole taps, copper pipes, electric cables, tools and other items from an address in Hagart Street, Brethurst.

The home is being renovated and was unoccupied during the burglary.

A home in Wordsworth Street, Dalpark, was robbed of a television set, a pair of sunglasses, jewellery, valuable coins and cellphones.

A television set and cellphones were stolen from a house in Louis Leipoldt Street, Dalpark.

A man was assaulted and robbed of R50 by four men along Voortrekker Road.

He was walking home at about 11am when the men, travelling in a Chrysler PT Cruiser (colour unknown) stopped, climbed out of the car and began beating him.

They took the cash and fled.
