SPCA aids homeless family

The Brakpan SPCA recently came to the aid of a family and their pets living at the Brakpan Dam.

According to SPCA manager Lorraine Coombs, staff went out to investigate after receiving a complaint about the family and animals.

“On our arrival we found that the owners had some financial difficulties and had no home,” said Coombs.

Two birds, three dogs and a cat were in their care.

The SPCA assisted the owners with their pets and took the animals into the society’s boarding kennels for a few days.

“We offered this assistance so that the owners could go and find a home for themselves and their animals,” said Coombs.

“After a few days, the owners returned with great news, they had found a home where they could take their animals with them.

“It’s always great to see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
