All in a day’s work for Anti-Hijacking Task Team

The Brakpan SAPS Anti-Hijacking Task Team certainly have a nose for sniffing out wanted criminals.

The team recently made nine arrests in just two days:

* July 10: A man sought for house robbery in KwaThema was arrested in Lenasia.

* July 10: A man wanted for hijacking by the Mondeor SAPS was arrested in Springs.

The team found a suspected stolen Volkswagen Polo in this man’s possession.

The vehicle was allegedly hijacked in Springs, in July.

*July 10: A man wanted by Brakpan police, as well as the SAPS in Tsakane, Springs, Actonville, Boksburg, Nigel and Elsburg, was arrested in Dalpark.

The man was sought for a variety of cases, including theft of motor vehicles, possession of hijacked motor vehicles and armed robbery.

* July 15: Two men were caught breaking into a house along Taft Avenue.

They were arrested for attempted housebreaking and their housbreaking implements were confiscated.

* July 15: A man was arrested along the R23, near Geluksdal, for being in possession of a suspected stolen vehicle.

The man, who tried to evade capture and sped away from the team, was also found with an unlicensed firearm in his possession.

He is wanted on charges of hijacking and armed robbery in Springs.

* July 15: A suspected hijacker, who might be linked to a Tsakane hijacking case, was arrested in KwaThema.

* July 15: A suspected hijacker, who might be linked to several cases of hijacking in Springs, was arrested in Tsakane.

* July 15: A man, wanted on a charge of murder that occurred in Tsakane, in July, was arrested in Reiger Park.

“We thank the team for their hard work and dedication,” said Capt Joep Joubert, spokesperson for the Brakpan Police Station commander.
