Kids are in for an exciting treat on Sunday when the Minions will make a grand appearance at Carnival City.

The crazy, loveable characters are coming to Brakpan to promote their movie Minions, which hits the big screens in South Africa on July 10.

Young fans can come and meet their yellow Minion heroes on Sunday from 9.30am onwards.

The delightful cast will be at Ster Kinekor Carnival City from 09.30am to 11am; 11.30am to 1pm; 1.30pm to 3pm, and 3.30pm to 5pm.

There is no cost to join the fun. Fans will be able to have their photographs taken with their favourite Minions and are also encouraged to bring Minion memorabilia for signing.

Carnival City expects throngs of fans for the meet-and-greet sessions with the Minions.

South African movie fans have loved these charismatic yellow characters since they made their debut in the hit animation, Despicable Me. Now it’s their turn to star in their own movie.

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time.  Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters.

Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters—from T. rex to Napoleon—the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he—alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain.

Featuring a soundtrack of hit music from the 60s that still permeates our culture today, Minions is produced by Illumination’s Chris Meledandri and Janet Healy, and is directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda.

Brian Lynch has written the screenplay and Chris Renaud serves as executive producer of the film.
