Donate to the SPCA’s Christmas Cheer Fund

With the festive season approaching fast, the Brakpan SPCA is appealing to the public to help raise much needed funds.

The Brakpan SPCA finds its kennels overwhelmed during the Christmas period and has launched a fund-raising drive.

The purpose of the Christmas Cheer Fund is to raise funds to cater for all the animals that need to be fed and to give some Christmas treats to all the unfortunate pets who will be abandoned, abused or stray over the festive season.

“Residents go on holiday and do not make arrangements for their pets and the SPCA steps in and takes care of these animals,” said Ann Martin, fund-raiser of the Brakpan SPCA.

“Pets are also maimed and injured due to fireworks during the holiday season and the SPCA is on duty to assist, therefore, we need you to please help us.

“We are asking the public and animal lovers to dig deep into their pockets to support this initiative.”

The community is encouraged to get involved by honouring past and present pets by pledging donations at the society’s premises, situated along Denne Road, or by depositing it into the bank account:

Brakpan SPCA,

Standard Bank Branch 2042,

Account Number 20922094

Beneficiary reference: Christmas Cheer and your name/anonymous (it is very important that it be indicated that the payment is for the Christmas Cheer Fund).

Email a copy of your proof of payment, including your optional short message, to spca159@gmail.com

Also email the proof of payment, with your short message, to malissas@caxton.co.za, so that every sponsor (whether it be an individual, school, organisation or a business) can be recognised in the Herald.

The Cheer Fund will be running until the end of December.
