“Do as we say and we won’t hurt you”

A Dalpark family fell victim to a house robbery on Wednesday, after armed robbers gained entry into their house in Sheridan Street.

“I was sitting in the lounge, with my mother-in-law (64) and son (15), watching TV, when suddenly a robber approached me and pointed a firearm at my face,” said the 39-year-old woman, who wishes to remain anonymous.

“He instructed me to keep quiet and to not look at his face. Then he snatched the necklace off my neck.”

Two other armed robbers then appeared in the house and the family was instructed to go to the main bedroom, sit down and face the floor.

The woman told the Herald that she thinks the robbers gained entry by jumping over their wall and, because of the heat, some of the doors were left open.

“They kept on saying: We are professional. If you do as we say, we won’t hurt you.”

The robbers then proceeded to steal items from the house, after they closed the bedroom door.

“After it became quiet and we waited a few minutes, we knew it was safe to go out,” said the woman.

“I’m just thankful we were not injured as it could’ve turned out badly, because they had guns with them.”

The robbers left with the woman’s necklace, a jewellery box, cellphones, a computer tablet and watches.
