Twins are passionate about serving the community

Both started as firefighters.

The Ekurhuleni Community Safety Department is proud to have identical twin brothers serving in the Emergency Services Department and the EMPD respectively.

Meshack and Shadrack Sambo both started as firefighters before Meshack joined the EMPD.

According to Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services spokesperson William Ntladi, it was difficult to tell the twins apart, especially when they were both wearing the same uniform.

“Members of the public are still puzzled by the brothers, moreover when both are at the same incident in their respective lines of duty,” said Ntladi.

Meshack is a supervisor in the EMPD bike unit, while Shadrack is a shift manager at the Edenvale Fire Station.

“Both are still engaged with their studies at the Tshwane University of Technology,” added Ntladi.
