Mayor to honour 2016 matric achievers

Masina has increased the bursary fund.

Continuing with the #BackToTheFuture campaign, Ekurhuleni’s executive mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina will tomorrow (Wednesday) honour the City’s top 2016 matric achievers.

The bursary awarding ceremony will take place at the Birchwood Hotel, in Boksburg.

Masina has increased the bursary fund from R10-million to R100-m in order to increase opportunities for further education and training for young people across the region of Ekurhuleni.

The 2017 Academic Excellence Awards will see an increased number of young people from Ekurhuleni accessing institutions of higher learning, as the mayor will give out bursaries.

Some of the categories of the awards ceremony will include Best Performing Learners, Most Improved Schools, Most Improved District and Best Performing School.
