Weekend crime round-up

Four robbers broke through the front door and pointed guns at the women.

According to information received, the following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the weekend:

• Friday – Two homes were burgled.

Clothes were stolen from an address along Ruth Road, in Sunair Park, and a battery charger was stolen from a property in Prince George Avenue, Brenthurst.

* A blue Fiat Uno was stolen from the corner of Voortrekker Road and Wanderers Street.

* A BMW motorbike was stolen from Lester Road, in Brenthurst.

* A cyclist was robbed of his bicycle at the corner of Station Road and Porter Avenue.

The robber made off with the bike after threatening the victim with a knife.

The incident took place at about 8am.

* A man was arrested for robbery after a woman’s handbag was stolen.

The victim’s bag was snatched from her as she walked through the parking area of a local business at about 10.45am.

The suspect was apprehended by members of the public and the woman’s handbag was returned to her.

* A man was assaulted by three robbers in the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement.

The victim, who sells cigarettes, was confronted by the trio at around noon.

One of the robbers grabbed him and started choking him, while the other two searched him.

The man was robbed of his cellphone, four cartons of cigarettes and over R2 000 in cash.

• Saturday – A car parked at an address along Buxton Avenue, in Dalview, was broken into and its sound system was stolen.

Three tyres and magwheels were stolen from another vehicle on the property.

Both cars were parked in a garage.

* A side mirror was stolen from a car parked at the corner of Wenden Avenue and Hyland Street.

The vehicle’s other mirror had been tampered with.

* A car parked at Mall@Carnival was broken into.

A laptop in its bag, the laptop charger, a jersey, CDs and two sets of keys were stolen.

The theft took place between 10am and 2pm.

* A home along Boyd Street, in Brenthurst, was burgled of a games console and games, a laptop and a portable CD player.

• Sunday – A Kenleaf woman and her mother were robbed in their Daimler Avenue home just after midnight (early Sunday morning).

Four robbers broke through the front door and pointed guns at the women.

The men took a large screen television set, a cellphone and other household items.

They fled in a silver Mercedes Benz.

* An attempted break-in was reported at a home along Frere Avenue.

The complainant was awakened by barking dogs at 3.40am and got up to investigate.

The resident saw a man at his front door and confronted him.

The intruder was arrested and detained at the Brakpan police station.

Other cases reported: 

• Thursday – A television set was stolen from the storeroom of an electronics store at Mall@Carnival.

* Tools and equipment were stolen from a business situated along First Road, in Witpoort Estates.
