Residents, community members and organisations have the chance to comment on the City of Ekurhuleni's intention to establish a new municipal entity – the Ekurhuleni Development Agency (EDA).

This proposal was approved by council in March 2015 (Item-CORP-2014).

The strategic objectives of the EDA include branding and international promotion; investment attraction and retention; real estate, urban realm and infrastructure development and partnership facilitation, planning and visioning.

All comments or representations must be submitted to the office of the chief risk officer, on or before Tuesday, April 18, by 4pm.

Any person who cannot read or write may visit the office of the chief risk officer, where they will be assisted to transcribe their comments or representations.

The municipality has since concluded the feasibility study, as provided for in Section 84 of the Municipal Financial Management Act (MFMA) and relevant provisions of the Municipal Systems Act (MSA), which was aimed at structuring the mandate as well as defining the core focus areas for the agency to be specifically dedicated to drive and lead integrated development programmes in the City.

• Office of the chief risk officer:

Second Floor, 5 Junction Street, Driehoek, in Germiston.

Operating hours: 8am to 4pm.
