Arrests:

Burglary:

• Van Zyl Street, in Brenthurst.

The residence was burgled on Sunday.

Stolen: Hand tools, golf clubs, sound equipment, oil paintings and a camping table.

• Hamilton Street.

The home was broken into yesterday (Monday).

Stolen: A games console, a digital camera, a tablet, a laptop and other electronic devices.

• Winterberg Street, in Dalpark.

The burglary occurred yesterday.

Stolen: Tyres, rims and electric tools.

A suspect was found on the property and arrested.

• Winterhoek Drive, in Helderwyk Estates.

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: Shoes, perfumes, handbags and purses.

Theft of motor vehicle:

• A blue Volkswagen Golf was stolen from Kaoko Avenue, in Leachville, on Sunday.

The theft took place between 6.30pm and 8pm.

• A red Fiat (model not provided) was stolen from the corner of Northdene Avenue and Prince George Avenue, at about 7pm, last night.

The Fiat’s owner had gone out in search of his stolen vehicle and saw it being towed by a white Mazda 323.

He pursued the vehicle and the Mazda driver allegedly crashed into the back of a blue Hyundai i10 at the corner of Station Road and High Street.

The driver reportedly fled the scene, but was apprehended near the Brakpan Taxi Rank about an hour later.

He sustained injuries and was taken to the Far East Rand Hospital under police guard.

Theft from/out of motor vehicle:

• Tools were stolen from a car parked along Voortrekker Road, on Sunday, May 14.

Smash-and-grab

• A man armed with a baseball bat smashed the window of a Nissan NP200 at the Rangeview Road and Airport Drive intersection, in Dalpark, yesterday.

The bakkie driver told police he was stationary at the traffic lights at about 2.30pm, when a man tried to open his door, which was locked.

The man then pulled out a gun and showed it to the driver.

A second man suddenly emerged from behind the armed male and struck one of the vehicle’s windows with a baseball bat, smashing it.

The driver sped off through the red robot.

Nothing was stolen and a case of malicious damage to property was opened.

Robbery:

• A pedestrian was robbed of his cellphone, banks cards, ID book, a leather belt and R150, on Saturday.

The man was walking along Station Road just after midnight when he was tripped up by two men.

The robbers searched him as he lay on the ground and fled with his belongings.

• A Dalpark couple were robbed in the driveway of their Raasblaar Street home, yesterday.

The couple arrived home at about 2pm after returning from a bank where they had deposited money.

As they pulled into the property, a silver Toyota Etios stopped behind their vehicle and three men armed with guns alighted the car.

The robbers demanded money, but the couple told them they had just made a deposit.

The trio took what cash the couple did have, the wife’s handbag, a set of car keys, a wristwatch, the couple’s ID books, bank cards, credit cards and their cellphones.

Police suspect the couple was followed home from the bank – the name of which they did not disclose.
