Ezenkosi reaches out to Geluksdal youngsters

The session focused on drug-related issues particularly, as it affects the youth.

As part of its social responsibility programmes, Jomo Cosmos Football Club recently reached out to Geluksdal Secondary School and the community in Geluksdal where the team’s home ground is currently situated.

The session focused on drug-related issues particularly, as it affects the youth.

Jomo Cosmos Academy administrator and Geluksdal resident, Marina de Lange who coordinated the event, is a professional coach as well as a substance abuse counsellor.

According to her, Cosmos aims to reach over 5 000 learners by the end of the year.

“I am delighted to report that the event at the school was a success,” she said.

“The session focused on two heart-wrenching subjects titled ‘Don’t Disappoint The Man In The Mirror,’ which clearly focuses on self-love, as well as ‘Is The Holy Herb Holy?'”

With learners airing their views and opinions on both subjects, it was clear that drug education is a must and a necessity.

De Lange stressed that the outreach programmes will stretch far and wide, and it is hoped that these would help to change lives for the better.

“To the staff at Geluksdal Secondary School, the principal and to the learners, we say thank you for embracing Cosmos,” she said.

“We will try our best to ensure a happy and healthy transition from adolescence into adulthood.

“With drug education and sport, we can conquer the world.

“Together we can make this country a better place for the next generation.”
