Dedicated policeman promoted

With 37 years of policing under his belt, dedicated Brakpan SAPS member Dana van der Walt now holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Van der Walt started his policing career in Springs, in 1981, but has spent the majority of his career at the local station serving the Brakpan community.

He headed the former Brakpan Crime Prevention Unit – a group of top cops notable for their numerous successes.

After a four-year absence – where he was stationed at the Reiger Park and Tsakane police stations – Van der Walt recently returned to Brakpan, to the Visible Policing Unit (Vispol).

He held the rank of captain for 22 years.
