VIDEO: Protesters march for better living conditions

Handed over a memorandum of demands to representatives from the mayor's office.

About 200 people took to the streets of Brakpan this morning (Friday) in a service delivery protest.

There was a heavy SAPS and EMPD presence at the march, which was aimed at calling attention to service delivery issues, crime and other problems.

The march started at 9am from the gathering point at the Olympic Centre, at the corner of Kitzinger Avenue and High Street.

From there, participants marched to Prince George Avenue and proceeded to Voortrekker Road.

The procession then moved along Bedford Street to the Brakpan Civic Centre, at the corner of Escombe Avenue and Elliot Street, where the marchers handed over a memorandum of demands.

The document was received by representatives from the office of Ekurhuleni mayor Clr Mzwandile Masina, and the marchers dispersed peacefully.
