Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (January 25 to 26):

Cases reported:

• Theft out of motor vehicle: 1
• Robbery with firearm: 2
• Residential burglary: 1
• Reckless driving: 1
• Theft: 3
• Fraud: 1
• Attempted residential burglary: 1

Arrests:

• General theft: 3
• Attempted housebreaking: 1

Armed robbery:

• A man was held at gunpoint and robbed near  Kirschner Road in Withok Estates on Monday.

The incident took place at 11.10am while the victim was working outside.

He was approached by two men who threatened to shoot him.

The pair made off with the victim’s cellphone and a pump machine.

• Several passengers were robbed in a taxi on Wednesday evening.

One of the victims told police she boarded the taxi at the Mkhankwa Village informal settlement near Ergo at about 7.40pm.

As the taxi drove off, two passengers – one armed with a gun and the other with a knife – demanded the victims’ handbags and other valuables.

The victims were dropped off in Geluksdal.

Burglary:

• Boven Avenue, Leachville.

The break-in took place on Wednesday.

Stolen: A radio and speakers were stolen from a vehicle parked in a locked garage on the property.

Theft from motor vehicle:

• A car parked at an address along Waterval Road in Leachville was broken into.

The vehicle’s radio and a driver’s licence was stolen.
