Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (January 31 to February 1):

Cases reported:

Arrests:

House robbery:

• A domestic worker was tied up during a robbery at her employer’s house along Valsrivier Street in Leachville at about 9am yesterday (Wednesday).

The victim was confronted by a man as she was heading back inside the house after doing laundry.

She was taken to a bathroom where her hands and legs were bound with cord.

A man armed with a knife then questioned her about a set of keys and wanted to know if they were for the car parked outside.

The three robbers ransacked the house, taking TVs, DVD players, a games console, jewellery, clothes, shoes and the victim’s cellphone.

After hearing the robbers leave the house, the victim untied herself and screamed for help.

She was assisted by a passerby and police were called.

The robbers fled in a navy blue BMW.

• A house along Crest Street in Sunair Park was robbed by two men yesterday.

The pair gained entry to the residence at about 1pm after telling a woman in the house that they were there to fix an electrical problem.

When the woman attempted to phone the homeowner to confirm, the men grabbed the phone from her and tied her up.

They fled with TV’s, laptops, a sound system and other valuables.

One suspect was later arrested.

Armed robbery:

Three men robbed several workers at a construction site along Springs Road in Witpoortjie yesterday morning.

The victims, who live on the site, were confronted by the robbers at around 1.10am.

They were held at gunpoint and robbed of their cellphones and cash.

Burglary:

• Shepstone Street, Brenthurst.

The home was burgled on Tuesday.

Stolen: A TV, DVD player, CDs and DVDs.

• Tafelboom Street, Leachville.

The break-in took place on Tuesday.

Stolen: An iPhone, laptop, clothes, jewellery and books.

• Dabchick Street, Dalpark.

The residence was broken into on January 25.

Stolen: A TV, two camping chairs and gardening equipment.

• Elton Street, Minnebron.

The home was burgled yesterday.

Stolen: An iPhone, cellphones, a wristwatch and clothes.

• Bertie Mayer Crescent, Minnebron (vacant house).

The break-in took place on Sunday.

Stolen: Taps, copper pipes and electrical wiring.
