Paving con artist disappears with cash

Victim robbed of thousands of rand.

Residents who have fallen victim to a paving conman operating in the Brakpan area are urged to get in touch with local police.

This follows an incident in which a resident was robbed of thousands of rand by a contractor he found on a classifieds website.

“The complainant alleges he saw an advert online for paving at a reasonable price,” said Capt Pearl van Staad, spokesperson for Brakpan police.

“They met at the complainant’s house to start work and the complainant made a deposit Of R1 000.

“The suspect then delivered soil and the complainant made a payment of R11 000.

“The suspect never again pitched up and after three weeks he sent an email to the complainant stating that he had been deported to Zimbabwe.”

Victims can contact Capt Johannes Ngoepe on 011 744 7100.
