Two locations notorious for horrific accidents were targeted during a joint special operation in Brakpan by EMPD and SAPS members on Friday night.
Roadblocks were set up and roadside checks were conducted first along Voortekker Road and later along the R554 near Carnival City.
The operation was held from 6pm to midnight.

“Five drivers ended up behind bars on drunken driving charges and one person was taken in for being undocumented,” said EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago.
“Fifty-two spot summonses were issued for various offences including documentation, defects and moving violations.”
Those arrested were booked in at the Brakpan Police Station and were expected to appear in the Brakpan Magistrate’s Court this week.
