Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (November 5 to 6):

Cases reported:

• Reckless driving: 2
• Common assault: 1
• Fraud: 1
• Theft: 1
• Assault GBH: 1
• Theft from motor vehicle: 1
• Attempted murder: 1

No arrests were made.

Attempted murder:

• The driver of a Chevrolet Sonic was shot in an apparent road rage incident along Location Road near Brakpan North on Saturday morning.

According to police reports, the victim was stationary at a stop sign along Boundary Road in Brenthurst at about 12.30am when he noticed a white Hyundai speeding towards him.

The Hyundai driver flashed his lights at the victim and shouted profanities at him, accusing him of being drunk.

The victim drove off with the Hyundai driver in pursuit.

While travelling along Location Road, the victim pulled over to resolve the matter.

The Hyundai driver reportedly walked up to the victim’s car, opened the driver’s side door and shot the victim once in the stomach.

The gunman fled the scene and the victim drove himself to a local hospital.

A case of attempted murder is under investigation.
