Daily crime watch

The following crimes were reported to Brakpan police over the past 24 hours (January 21 to 22):

Arrests:

• Possession of drugs: 2
• Theft: 1
• Armed robbery: 2

House robbery:

• A lone house robber attempted to rape an elderly woman during a robbery in her Brenthurst home yesterday (Monday).

The 69-year-old victim was home alone when the man gained access to her house at about 11am and grabbed her.

After assaulting the victim, the man forced her into a bedroom where he demanded money.

He searched through a vanity case and then pushed the victim to the floor.

The man removed the victim’s pants and forced himself on her.

He fled after his attempts were unsuccessful.

A cellphone was stolen.

Armed robbery:

• Two men were arrested after a pedestrian was robbed of two cellphones and a tablet at the corner of Gordon Street and Location Road yesterday.

The victim was walking through the veld around 6pm when he was confronted by three men.

Two of the men were brandishing weapons – one was armed with a gun and the other was wielding a knife.

They searched the victim and ran off with his belongings.

Two suspects were later apprehended and the victim’s stolen items were returned.

Burglary:

• Bentley Place, Kenleaf.

The break-in took place yesterday.

Stolen: A TV, jewellery, groceries and other household items.
