Pulling the reins on crime

Special crime prevention operation yields numerous arrests.

A heavy police presence in Brakpan on Thursday, last week, had a positive impact on crime over the weekend and fewer incidents were reported.

Local law enforcers, along with the men and women in blue from neighbouring police stations, the SAPS K9 Unit and SAPS Equestrian Unit, officials from the Department of Home Affairs, the Gauteng Liquor Board and other roleplayers clamped down on crime during a special operation targetting crime hotspots in the Brakpan area.

Numerous arrests were made, including 21 illegal immigrants, three for selling liquor without a licence, one for dealing in drugs, one for possession of drugs, and one for housebreaking and theft.
