Car hijacked in Mpumalanga recovered in Brakpan

One of the men told police the car belonged to a friend in Thokoza.

Two men were arrested in the parking lot at Mall@Carnival on Saturday after they were found in possession of a hijacked car.

The vehicle, a white Opel Corsa, was recently hijacked in Mpumalanga.

According to information received from Brakpan SAPS, police received reports about the vehicle’s location at around 4pm.

When they arrived on the scene, officers found two men standing near the car.

During questioning, one of the men told police the car belonged to a friend in Thokoza.

He further claimed they were at the mall to meet with a man to whom they were going to sell the car.

After checking the vehicle and confirming it had been hijacked, the men were arrested.

Two cellphones were seized and the car was taken to the SAPS Van Ryn Deep Vehicle Pound in Benoni.
