Santa Paws comes early

Residents can also support the organisation by donating to its Back-a-Buddy fund-raising campaign.

Christmas has come early for kitties receiving a helping hand from The Murphy Cat Project after the organisation received two generous donations to enable it to continue its excellent work in assisting cats in need.

The Benoni-based organisation’s efforts to reduce the population of the feral cat colony at Mall@Carnival was highlighted in the Herald’s October 16 edition, “Sterilisation of feral cats from mall gets underway”.

The NPO, that helps orphaned, feral and abandoned cats, is currently in the process of having the cats at the mall sterilised.

Dozens of cats live behind the Pick n Pay and Checkers at the local mall and in addition to helping put a stop to their numbers, The Murphy Cat Project has been feeding the felines since January.

Kittens have also been removed from the colony and rehomed when ready.

The Murphy Cat Project received two deliveries of dry and wet cat and kitten food, and cat litter via Takealot.

Following the publication of the article, which appealed to community members to donate towards the organisation’s trap-neuter-return (TNR) project, as well as for donations of dry cat food especially for the Mall@Carnival feral colony, The Murphy Cat Project received two deliveries of dry and wet cat and kitten food, and cat litter via Takealot.

“I don’t know who the donors are but just in case, I would like to send a thank you to your readers,” Cecilia Morris, founder of the organisation, told the Herald.
